Class Privacy Policy

A new EU data protection and privacy law came into force on the 25th May 2018, it is called "General Data Protection Regulation" (GDPR) in English. GDPR has to be adhered to by all businesses/organisations whether for profit/nonprofit/volunteer/member [including sports organisations like sailing clubs and class associations] that store, process and make use of data that can identify an individual person.

The Osprey Class Association [UK] committee have produced a Class Privacy Policy document as required by GDPR which is based on their current understanding of GDPR. This document may be updated as new guidance, from likes of RYA and others, becomes available.

The Class use the Matomo [previously known as Piwik] vistor tracking, similar to Google Analytics, to record who visits the class web site and what information they view. This information will help us to know where our visitors come from and what content is popular/unpopular. But we can only do so if you are happy for your visit to be recorded. By default tracking for each visitor is set so that there is no tracking. However we would be appreciative if you would consent to being tracked by clicking the box below

The Osprey Class Association invites you to join.

Here are some of the things which the Association does on behalf of its members;

  • Organises class circuits and Championships
  • Organises  training days
  • Communicates with members and public via Class website, Forum and Facebooks etc
  • Publicises the class in yachting press and websites, and at the RYA Dinghy Show
  • Provides measurement certificates
  • Maintains class records and trophies
  • Advertises Ospreys for sale
  • Underpins the value of your Osprey

When you are racing your boat you need a valid Measurement Certificate. For the Measurement Certificate to be valid you need two stickers from the Osprey Class Association; one for your measurement certificate and one for the transom of your boat. These stickers are issued annually on payment of the appropriate membership fees.

On change of ownership a new measurement certificate must be obtained. A new certificate can be obtained from the class secretary [This email address is being protected from spambots.
