Spring preparation for the 2023 Racing Season

We are excited to be sponsoring the Osprey Class again this year

The winter is a good time of year to give your Osprey the once over to reduce the chances of a preventable accident. A fitting that pulls out leading to the loss of a rig will ruin a championship or club series and it won’t help us keep premiums down.

Here’s our essential Osprey winter check list;

♦ Running Rigging - replace anything that is frayed. Damage to the outer means the core is exposed which will then abrade very quickly – that’s why they put an outer on it! Replace any dyneema that has been exposed to UV for more than a year.

♦ Carbon spars – inspect for any signs of damage and varnish any older spars.

♦ Sails – sort any damage, giving the kites a really good check.

♦ Storage - check tiedown straps both on the strongback and the one that ties the boat down in the dinghy park - look for UV damage on straps. And try not to leave sails in a place where they may be prone to damage by mice or rats.

♦ Trailing - replace suspect bearings (have a spare set in the boot). Check tyres for wear and if left out in sun, again check for UV damage. Make sure your lighting board is fully functional before towing and that your hitch lock is really secure.

♦ Trolley - check cradle is sound and supports are not corroded/rusted. A broken cradle support poking through the bottom planks is not what you want to see.

 We have had claims from all the above!

 See you on the water,
